Vacancy: Clinical Psychologist
Country Program Mission

Position Overview
The Clinical Psychologist will provide high-quality psychosocial support and mental health services to refugees and host community members. This role includes:
- Leading group therapy sessions
- Providing individual counseling
- Facilitating community-based psychosocial activities
The position also emphasizes capacity building for community actors, enabling them to deliver trauma-informed, gender-sensitive psychosocial support.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Service Delivery
- Conduct age-appropriate group therapy sessions tailored to community needs.
- Provide individual psychosocial counseling for beneficiaries facing mental health or trauma challenges.
- Develop and distribute psychosocial materials (flyers, booklets) for different populations, including GBV survivors and persons with disabilities.
Capacity Building
- Train community activists, teachers, and health workers in basic psychosocial support, including Psychological First Aid (PFA).
- Organize workshops on stress management, trauma-informed care, and grief counseling.
- Facilitate experience-sharing sessions for trained community actors.
Community Engagement
- Collaborate with community leaders, teachers, and religious leaders to integrate mental health and protection messages.
- Design and implement stigma reduction campaigns, including art therapy workshops and school-based interventions.
- Support community-led initiatives such as youth empowerment programs and anti-GBV clubs.
Collaboration and Coordination
- Work closely with project staff, including GBV officers and SRH nurses, to ensure holistic service delivery.
- Build partnerships with local organizations, government agencies, and mental health specialists.
- Maintain accurate documentation of referrals and follow-ups.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting
- Collaborate with the MEAL team to track project progress and analyze data from counseling sessions and community activities.
- Conduct client satisfaction surveys and implement improvements based on feedback.
- Submit regular reports highlighting challenges, achievements, and recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Mental Health, or related field (Master’s or additional certification in trauma counseling preferred).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in psychosocial support or mental health programming in humanitarian or development settings.
- Experience delivering group therapy, individual counseling, and trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrated experience in training community actors or service providers.
Skills and Competencies
- Knowledge of mental health and psychosocial support principles, including Psychological First Aid and GBV response.
- Strong communication skills, providing empathetic and culturally sensitive support.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
- Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda (French or other local languages is an advantage).
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant documentation tools.
